PWF/Cozy Series Starter Quick Plot

This is a series starter that would be appropriate for cozy mysteries or a paranormal women’s fiction with mysteries. The protagonist is a 50-year-old widow moving to a new town. It has a secret, hidden magical side that she taps into and becomes Keeper of a magical ruby that powers up anyone holding it. She finds a dead body in her basement and has to solve the crime. There’s a handsome police chief trying to keep her out of it, along with a cast of quirky characters, including a new best friend, and twin cat familiars who like to mess with her.

If you want to keep this a paranormal cozy series, her age is easily adapted to be younger, if you prefer, and the son she has in the book could become a brother, cousin, or even a brother-in-law of her dead husband.

This is a quick plot, so the 63 plot points are laid out in a bulleted style rather than as paragraph summations. The outline should yield enough material for 40-60,000 words, depending on your writing style.

1. Tilly arrives in town after buying an old farmhouse on the internet, sight unseen. When she arrives, she realizes the pictures were at least a decade old, and the house is going to require major renovation. The master suite is still suitable for living for the time being, so she unpacks while searching for a construction business in Andale. As she’s unpacking, she sees a cat on her car. When she opens the hatchback, she sees the same cat in her car. It happens so quickly that she thinks she must have imagined seeing the cat in the car when she sees the cat jumping off as she closes it.
2. She gets hold of Andi, who sets up an appointment to view the house and give estimates later that afternoon.

I am happy to continue plotting books in the series in 2023, and they would be $225 (individually vs. buying a plot pack) due to having the basis already established for subsequent plots.
