Author Email

$25.00

This service will get you a year (autorewed by subscription unless/until you cancel) of your own author email with the domain @authorcooperative.com. The domain is verified for Email Octopus. The primary purpose of this is to avoid getting marked as spam when sending emails, and some services will no longer allow you to use free emails, like gmail.com, to send a newsletter.

Description

What’s included?

Your own personalized email of your choosing, with the domain ending of @authorcooperative.com. I will set it up for you through my hosting service, which includes unlimited emails for the domain. That means I’ll have to assign your password, or you’ll have to choose it and give it to me to set up. I don’t know if it’s possible for you to change it on your end after the email is created, but I won’t be keeping any record of the password used to set up the email.

I will send you the link for Roundcube, which is the service my host provides for email. It’s a basic email program. You can send and receive, set up a signature, and create folders. AFAIK, you can’t create message rules, etc. If you figure out how, let me know. πŸ™‚

What’s not included?

Anything beyond basic support of setting it up and contacting the host if there’s a problem with the email not working. I’m not tech-minded, so I can’t offer any help beyond that. I simply have unlimited emails and am offering to create one for you. This is a basic service, and you likely wouldn’t want to use it for your main email provider.

Which authors are best served by this service?

I’d say it’s ideal for starting a new pen name if you’re not sure you want to invest the time and money into setting up your own website for it, in case you abandon the pen name. It’s ideal for authors who don’t have or want a website with a personalized domain but still want to send newsletters from a verified email address. Right now, the domain is verified for Email Octopus. For other services, you might need to do something else. I might need to add some records on the back end, which I’m willing to do as long as I have clear instructions on what’s needed. As mentioned in the previous answer, I’m not the tech-savviest. I’m just sharing my “windfall” of unlimited emails.

Just an email, huh?

You get an email, and perhaps, one day in the future (if I can figure out how it’s done), you’ll be able to add your own profile page on the Author Cooperative website, where you can list your bio, books, or what-have-you. I have to figure out how to allow access to the site first for various users. I know it can be done, but I haven’t explored how yet. This is somewhat like Bookbub or an Amazon Author Page, but it includes an email with the service. (If/when I can figure out how to grant access, you’ll be able to create your profile.) In the interim, if you want me to add an author page for you with links to your books and a bio, that will be an additional $25. It’s a simple set-up (see the example above). Adding new releases (up to 3 at a time) will be $5 (one-time charge per new addition/up to three books). Same with other minor updates. This service isn’t active yet, but I’ll add a link when it is.

What do I do now?

If you want to order an email, sign up for the annual subscription and use the contact form to let me know what user/author name you’d like for _____@authorcooperative.com
